I’m Abbey Woodcock.
If you’re in the right place, you need help with copy.
Let’s talk to customers like people instead of transactions. I work with clients like you to find your voice and maximize it so that everyone that lands on your page or clicks a button falls in love with you, your site, and your products.
You may have tried one or more of the following places:
- Copy tips and tricks that give you some of the security-clearance-required, mind-bending, magic tricks but leave you hanging when it comes to what you really need — direction on how to write that email series, sales page, or landing page.
- A copywriting course that you spent a few hours on until other stuff like ya know, clients, employees, and running your business pull you away.
- Cheap work-for-hire sites like Fivver or Upwork where sometimes you find a gem. But, mostly you’re stuck spending more time reworking the high-school level submissions than if you had just muddled through it yourself.
- Facebook ads that promise a “high-conversion” sales page and produce overpriced cookie-cutter sales page templates that sound like they came right out of a 1960’s copywriting handbook.
Here you’ll find exactly none of those things.
This is a site for you if you need great copy, but don’t have time to learn great copy. Or, if you don’t have the money to let someone else learn great copy while experimenting on your site and with your customers (which is exactly what happens when you hire cheap).
You have a business to run and “become an expert copywriter” isn’t on today’s to-do list.
So, I’ll check that one off for you.
I wrote my first long-form sales letter about 20 years ago. It was a 30-page letter to my middle school crush asking him to the dance. I had a 0% conversion on that one, but improved since then. After a Master’s Degree in Communications and Database Management, I did a jaunt in journalism and then corporate marketing. Now, I work with names you know (and names you don’t) who sell their products and services online.
I work with people who understand the need for great copy. They have great businesses and great customers who love what they do. They love their business, love their market, and make amazing contributions to the world by improving lives.
Their only shortfall is they’re not sure how to get converting copy or what to pay when they find it. And, quite possibly, they’re not even entirely sure what great copy looks like.
If that’s you, I can fill that gap.
What I do
Here’s a couple of links that explain in depth:
- Why your content writer is not your copywriter
- Learning someone else’s voice (why you need this skill)
Here’s the down-and-dirty:
I’ve helped my clients double launch revenue, beat projections by 7-figures, and launch new products from conception to profit.
But what I’m most proud of? My lifelong mission to eliminate marketing speak.
Let’s talk to customers like people instead of transactions. I work with clients like you to find your voice and maximize it so that everyone that lands on your page or clicks a button falls in love with you, your site, and your products.
And the best part about all that is as a result, the conversions, traffic, and profit become the easy part.
So you get to be you, I get to be me, and the customer buys more. They’re happy. You’re happy. I’m happy. And that’s what it’s all about, folks.
Where you can find me
Other than right here of course, you can find me across the Internets (plural with a capital “i”). In rare cases I’ve been spotted in human form, too.
Sometimes I’m in the woods running a chainsaw:
Sometimes I’m on stage talking copy
Sometimes I’m in magazines and on websites
Sometimes I’m on podcasts
And sometimes I’m locked in a dark, dreary office working on ridding the world of marketing speak and making money for my clients. Those days I’m heavily medicated with caffeine and Italian pastries.
And let’s be honest, that’s most days.
The 7 Things I Know About Me…
(And now you know about me)
THING ONE: I know that writing when I feel like writing is when I feel most right in the world. And for all the other times, I have a schedule… since clients and bills and children don’t really care when I feel like writing.
THING TWO: I know how to write words that make people do things. I know that this skill comes in handy in all areas of life. I know that most people don’t know this — but even worse, there are the people that think that people like me don’t affect them (cue evil laughter).
THING THREE: I know that I hate conferences but I love drinks in hotels after conferences.
THING FOUR: I know my business was transformed when my “real life” was transformed — mainly by one person. A man that showed me that strength and dependence are not mutually exclusive. A man that made up for my flaws in project management, schedules, logic, and keeping drawers closed. In return, I showed him that unbridled optimism sometimes wins.
THING FIVE: I know that my two children teach me more about life than I am teaching them. They expose my flaws and my strength in equal measure and with unstoppable ferociousness.
THING SIX: I know how to run a chainsaw, listen to someone’s story, tarp a roof according to FEMA guidelines, drive a big truck, get a team excited, deal with local governments, and drink a lot of beer… all critical skills in a disaster-torn community.
THING SEVEN: I know that every single one of my successes can be traced back to a conversation with a human being — not to a lead magnet, or a “trip wire,” or a long-form sales page. Real, human interaction is where it starts and anyone that tells you otherwise is either delusional or trying to cheat you.
